Blood, Flowers, and Frescoes: Coming of Age in Early Greece

Please join us on Wednesday, 10 October 2018, at 5pm in LA 4310 for Dr. Emily S.K. Anderson’s lecture “Blood, Flowers, and Frescoes: Coming of Age in Early Greece.” Dr. Anderson is Assistant Professor of Classics at Johns Hopkins University. She is the author of the book Seals, Craft, and Community in Bronze Age Crete (Cambridge UP, 2016). The talk will focus on the Akrotiri frescoes from the island of Thera (Santorini), combining archaeological, art historical and anthropological perspectives, namely the analysis of gendered coming-of-age rituals in the Late Bronze Age Aegean.
