The “Pay by Plate,” and ParkMobile app, which was launched in Spring 2018, are two ways Towson University visitors can conveniently obtain permits for visitor parking on campus. Parking & Transportation Services offers the opportunity for hourly or daily campus visitors to purchase virtual visitor parking with ease.
General Visitor Options & Information
– Pay-by-Plate – All general visitor permits utilize the “Pay-by-Plate” process. This approach requires users to enter their license plate, which will be scanned to see if there is a valid visitor permit associated with the plate. Please do NOT enter any abbreviations for the state and be sure to include all other letters and numbers that show on your license plate. Since your plate is used to verify you have a permit, there is no need to display the permit on the dash of the vehicle—it is virtual.
– Pay Stations – Pay by Plate – Option 2 on the display: Those paying with cash or credit card and who don’t meet the criteria for a specialty permit, must select option 2 to purchase their permit. Please follow the prompts on the pay station. Once you complete the transaction your plate will be in the system and show a valid permit for the time you purchased.
– ParkMobile app: Visitors may download the ParkMobile app from the App Store or Google Play. Once downloaded, users can purchase a virtual visitor parking permit on their phone or device. Additional time can also be added to the permit through the app, eliminating the need to go back to the vehicle or paystation.
TU Green Initiative and Specialty Rate Programs – Restricted Use
– Pay Station Option 1 Pay & Display – permits under this option may only be used by those who meet the eligibility requirements for the type of permit being purchased.
– Pay & Display Permits: These permits are ONLY for use by certain groups and specialty rate program participants such as departmental guests, TURFA, visitors who are parking a “Green” – qualified EPA SmartWay Elite vehicle” (Eligible vehicles are shown on signs at each pay station). These permits must be purchased at a paystation and displayed face up on the dash of the vehicle. Visitors should review signage at paystations for eligibility rules prior to purchasing a permit to avoid citations for mis-use of a permit.
We are excited to continue to offer these convenient options for parking on the TU campus to visitors and departmental guests. As always, it is the users’ responsibility to read and follow all displayed directions posted at paystation locations or through the ParkMobile app.
