Starting today, a new button in Outlook makes reporting phishing easier than ever

The Office of Information Security (OIS) in the Office of Technology Services (OTS) has provided a new option for reporting suspicious and phishing emails from a desktop or laptop.

Starting todayyou can directly report phishing emails from within the email itself, with just a click of a button. No installation or download is required, and this will be valid on all faculty and staff TU Outlook email accounts. Note: the email address phishing@towson.edu is still an option for reporting phishing.

Report a suspicious or phishing email from a desktop or laptop

  • If you’ve opened an email that seems suspicious, click the “Report Phish” button, which appears above the body of the email.
  • You will get prompted with: “Are you sure you want to report this email as a phishing email?”
  • Confirm by clicking the red “Report Phish” button, which sends the potential scam to the OIS security team for review, and deletes the email from your inbox.
