Parking Changes & Reminders for 2018/2019 School Year

To better serve and accommodate the growing campus community, several changes to parking have been made for the coming semester.  Below are changes & reminders for the fall 2018 semester.  Please carefully read all parking signs to ensure that you are parking in a valid location for your permit type.

Parking Area Changes:

  • Commuter student parking areas in the main campus garages (Union, Towsontown & Glen) have been renamed to “Core”.  Commuter students with 30+ credits are eligible to purchase a “Core” parking permit.  There are no changes to restrictions or eligibility.
  • The “Faculty/Staff” spaces and “Core” student spaces on level 2 of the Union garage have been re-aligned with Faculty/Staff spaces closest to the University Union.  The number of available spaces for each area has not changed.
  • Resident Lot 7 parking area has been expanded to accommodate Residence Towers coming back on line and has been relocated from level 3 to level 4 of the Towsontown Garage.  The level 3 spaces are now designated for “Core” parking.
  • Resident Lot 8 has been established in the garage of 10 West and is restricted to those who are eligible for a Lot 8 resident permit.
  • With the closure of Bateman’s, 31 “Core” parking spaces have been added to Glen Garage for commuters.
  • Resident Life spaces in West Village Garage have been relocated from Level 1 to level 2.

Reminders

  • Parking permits are required from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday’s.  Resident spaces, reserved spaces, fire lanes and accessible areas are enforced at all times.
  • Visitor Parking Options:
    • Parkmobile allows parkers to use the phone app to purchase their visitor parking permit.  Customers can use the Parkmobile app to establish an account and purchase electronic parking permits that will be linked to their license plate. No more need to display a permit on your dash.
    • Visitor paystations are still available and also require the license plate of the vehicle to be entered into the system in order to purchase a general visitor permit.  Please select the “Pay by Plate” option if you wish to purchase a general visitor permit.  There is no longer the need to display the visitor permit on the dash.
    • Department visitors using codes and other specialized permits as noted at paystations will still be required to purchase the permit through the “Restricted-Pay & Display” option.  Restricted paystation permits must still be displayed on the dash with all information clearly visible.
  • Parking Area Signs – Please remember to check signs prior to parking.  In an effort to help reduce confusion, signs are color coded as outlined below:
    • Green Border – “Core” permits are required during peak times, all permits are valid after 3 p.m.
    • Purple Border – “Resident” permits (lot specific) are required at ALL times.
    • Black Border – “Overflow” parking.  All permits are valid in these areas.
    • Red Border – “Faculty/Staff” permits are required during peak times as posted on signs.  After posted times, all permits are valid in these areas.
  • Additional parking is valid in “Overflow” areas located near the stadium and designated areas of the West Village garage.
  • Lot 14 near the stadium will be closed on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s through mid-November in order to accommodate band practice.
