State of Maryland regulations require minimum wage for hourly paid employees to increase from $9.25 to $10.10. Payroll will use an effective date of June 23, 2018, which is the beginning of our student payroll ending July 6, 2018, to automatically adjust any student employees who had an hourly rate below the new minimum of $10.10. This change does not require any action on the part of departments.
It is recommended that departments review current work hours and pay rates, and forecast any potential changes within existing budgets in order to accommodate this rate adjustment.
If you have any students who are no longer working in your department, please submit the Deletion of Student Employment Form to the Payroll Office ASAP, so that we can remove them before we update pay rates for the minimum rate increase.
