IRB Dates and Info for Summer Months

Summertime is fast approaching! Although many are off for the summer, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) would like to remind everyone that IRB applications are accepted and reviewed throughout the summer. The deadline dates for standard/full board review are as follows: June 15, July 20, and August 17. Accelerated applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis.

Please note that there may be delays in the normal 1 week (accelerated) and 3 week (standard/full board) review timelines since reviewing faculty may be out of office during some of this time. IRB meetings are not scheduled to take place during the summer months, so if you have an application requiring full board review, please keep in mind that your application will NOT be reviewed until the next scheduled IRB meeting, August 17th.

Lastly, are you planning on conducting research early on in the Fall semester? Start working on your IRB application(s) NOW! The IRB has deadlines in place to help the researcher plan their projects out ahead of time and receive comments in a specific timeframe; however, if revisions are requested by the IRB the full timeline for review and approval may be prolonged. Please plan ahead and include some buffer time in case revisions are requested for your application. The sooner in the summer you get your application in, the better!

*Next Deadline for Standard Review: Friday, June 15th
