Maryland’s Click It or Ticket Campaign begins May 21

Towson University Police will join with other law enforcement agencies, highway safety officials, and safety advocates across the country in support of the 2018 “Click It or Ticket” mobilization, a highly visible national enforcement program created to save more lives on our roadways. From May 21 to June 3, 2018, motorists can expect to receive tickets or warnings if officers observe them on the road not wearing their seatbelts. Motorists can also expect Towson University police officers to be out in force both day and night.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in the year 2016, the use of seat belts in passenger vehicles saved an estimated 14,668 lives of occupants ages 5 and older. The “Click It or Ticket” campaign focuses on safety education, strong laws and law enforcement officers saving lives. In Maryland, the maximum penalty for a seat belt violation is $83.

Remember, seat belts saves lives.
