More than just a ‘Bridge’? Russia’s Asian Pivot through Vladivostok

Although China, Russia, and North Korea are frequently mentioned by the US media, little insight is shared from those who have actually spent time where these three nations meet. Jeremy spent four months in Russia’s Pacific port city of Vladivostok, located a short ferry ride from the Korean peninsula and from the Chinese-Russian border, and just a 40 minute flight from Japan. While teaching at the largest university on Russia’s Pacific coast, Jeremy conducted field research exploring how Western economic sanctions and Russia’s Asian pivot are affecting the lives of residents living on this side of Russia’s “Bridge to Asia.” Everyone is welcome to attend his lunch-time talk.
