Join the Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility and the Center for Student Diversity for this unique New York Times talk! This talk will be an exploration of the Libyan slave trade that was exposed through social media to the masses last fall. Learn about the “why” behind this injustice and how the international community has responded. Please be prepared to engage in meaningful discussion.
The conversation will be led by Dr. Robert Rook, Professor, Director Interdisciplinary Studies. Dr. Rook’s areas of expertise include the history of the U.S., Middle East, and Indian Ocean Basin in the 20th century; environmental history, diplomatic & military history as well as history education.
