Apply before 2/24 to Present at the Research for Social Change Symposium!

Towson University Libraries is now accepting proposals to participate in the Spring 2018 student symposium, Research for Social Change. The symposium will be held during the afternoon of Friday, April 20, 2018.

The Research for Social Change symposium highlights original research by current Towson University undergraduate and graduate students and welcomes submissions from all majors and areas of study. The aim is to provide a platform for students to share their work, network, and dialogue with the Towson University community and beyond. Submissions should be thematically related to activism, resistance, and social change, and may discuss social issues and discipline-specific approaches to enacting change.

Proposals should be no more than 350 words and should include the main thesis of your proposed project and a description of the ideas you plan to present. Proposals may be drawn from projects completed for course assignments or may feature ideas for new works. Students are encouraged to think of ways they may want to utilize their research interests to effect change in the context of their discipline studies, post-degree professional practice, and/or community involvement.

For more information and to submit your proposal, please see the submission guidelines. The submission deadline for proposals is Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:59pm. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by March 5th. For those accepted, the first draft of your project will be due by April 1st. Final versions of projects will be presented at the symposium on April 20th.
