Research shows that the world of online dating is no different when it comes to internalized biases against black women and Asian men. The Center for Student Diversity invites you to join us on Friday, October 20th at 7pm in the UU Potomac Lounge for a facilitated panel discussion about the dynamics of racism and sexism in online dating. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A and will include a facilitated conversation with Amanda Seales and Sam Louie.
Amanda Seales, formerly known as Amanda Diva, is a Grenadian-American comedian, actress, DJ, recording artist, and radio personality. Most recently, the racial activist appeared on a YouTube live-streamed Freinds and Family: Dinner With Discourse hosted by Katy Perry alongside Caitlyn Jenner to discuss racism and white privilege in America.
Sam Louie is a psychotherapist, author, poet, and Emmy Award-Winning former television journalist. He has authored “Slanted Eyes: The Asian American Poetic Experience” and “Asian Shame and Addiction: Suffering in Silence.” His areas of expertise include Diversity and Culture, Addiction and Recovery, as well as other intersections of race, culture, and mental health.
