Professor Ricardo Hernández Otero, former researcher at the Institute of Literature and Linguistics in Havana and member of The National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, visits Towson University for the following events:

Wednesday, September 20, 12:00 noon in Chesapeake I and II in the University Union

“Vicissitudes of Literary Research in Cuba: a journey from personal experiences to historical circumstances”: Professor Hernández Otero will talk about Cuban culture and the revolutionary process from a historical and personal point of view.

Thursday, September 21, 6:30pm in College of Liberal Arts building, room 2310

Screening of the film, Santa y Andres (2016), directed by Carlos Lechuga. Professor Hernández Otero will introduce the film and follow up with Q&A after the screening.

Friday, September 22, 12:00 noon in College of Liberal Arts building, room 2110

“A Baltimorean on the Cuban Stage: Calvert Casey and the Cuban theater in the 60s”: Roundtable on Cuban/Baltimorean writer, Calvert Casey, with Professor Hernández Otero and Dr. Diego del Pozo of the Department of Foreign Languages at Towson University. Calvert Casey was a Baltimorean who became a cult writer of sorts in Cuba and was involved in the theater scene in Cuba at the beginning of the Revolution.

Monday, September 25, 7:30pm in Van Bokkelen Auditorium

Screening of the film, Lucía (1968), directed by Humberto Solás. Professor Hernández Otero will introduce the film and follow up with Q&A after the screening.
