In December, Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. (BGE) began working on a project to improve the reliability of power service to the campus and nearby hospitals. So far, underground electrical conduits have been installed from the Administration Building entrance to the BGE substation on Cross Campus, as well as from the Administration Building entrance to York Road. New BGE electrical poles have also been installed on the east side of the Administration Building.
This summer, work will move west on Osler Drive away from the Administration Building. Beginning in June, BGE will temporarily fence in the parking lane on the south side of Cross Campus (closest to the Center for the Arts). Vehicular access along Cross Campus Drive will remain open in both directions, and flaggers will be on site to help maintain the flow of traffic. Pedestrian access will be available on the north side of Cross Campus (closest to the Union Garage).
BGE expects the Cross Campus Drive portion of the project to be complete by late summer. We will continue to share updates from BGE as they become available.
