Last Thursday the International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) welcomed more than 115 new international exchange and degree seeking students, from forty countries, to campus to begin their studies. This week they are joined by over 450 returning students and 85 English Language Center students. Together they represent our dynamic and culturally diverse international student population. The international student orientation program was the culmination of a week long series of programs designed to help students adjust to the United States, Towson and the University.
The ISSO staff was assisted by our International Ambassadors, a select group of domestic and international continuing students who assist fellow students in navigating their new university environment. Their communications began almost two months before the students arrived in the United States through e-mail and social media and will continue throughout the semester.
Please join the ISSO and TU International in welcoming our new and continuing students to campus. The diversity, scholarship and goodwill that they contribute to our community are invaluable. We are delighted they are here and wish them success this semester and beyond.
