Don’t fall for it!
The Office of Information Security warns about a current phishing scam targeting college students: phony job opportunities are advertised through college employment websites or sent directly to students’ university email accounts. Students that apply for these fake jobs are compensated with counterfeit checks, which when deposited lead to fraudulent activity within their bank accounts. See the full FBI announcement for alert details and tips on how to protect yourself from this scam.
Remember: never send personal or financial information through email, and use extra caution when providing this info through websites on a wireless network.
