Save Time With Function Keys
Function keys can help you save some time on your Windows PC. Here’s a list of the most common uses for each key:
F1
- Access the Help feature in the current program
- F1+Windows key to access Windows Help and Support
F2
- Rename the currently selected file or folder
- Alt+Ctrl+F2 to open the Documents Library while in Microsoft Office software
F3
- Use the search function in Windows Explorer
- Find text in most web browsers
F4
- Select the address bar in Windows Explorer
- Alt+F4 to close the active window or software
F5
- Refresh the current page in the internet browser
- Start a slideshow in PowerPoint
- Open the Find and Replace window in Microsoft Office software
F6
- Select the internet browser’s address bar
- Toggle keyboard navigation in the ribbon of Microsoft Office software

- Spell and grammar check in Microsoft Office software
