The Office of International Partnerships is thrilled to welcome 30 undergraduate students from the University of Guadalajara, in the state of Jalisco in western Mexico for a one month intensive English language and U.S. culture program. This program was previously implemented in the fall of 2014. During that time the TU community shared meaningful moments and created lasting international friendships. This program is part of the 100,000 Strong in the Americas and Mexican Proyecta 100,000 initiatives, signature programs between the U.S. Department of State, the Obama and Nieto Administrations and the private sector to promote educational exchanges between Western Hemisphere students.
The group arrived on October 30 and will stay on campus until November 26. In addition to coursework, they will attend cultural organization meetings, on campus and community events and share coffee hours with other Towson students. The students will also have the opportunity to participate in excursions to major cities including Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and New York City.
This is a great opportunity for all Towson University students, staff and faculty to share in an intercultural experience. If you are interested in teaching English to speakers of other languages, learning Spanish, sharing your culture or simply connecting with individuals from another country, please join the Office of International Partnerships for some of these events.
