Virtual Workspace upgrade offers access options

The Office of Technology Services (OTS) has completed the Virtual Workspace upgrade. In response to campus feedback, OTS will support both the new and existing Virtual Workspace environments in parallel until the end of the semester. The legacy (existing) environment will be decommissioned in January 2017. OTS is encouraging the campus to use the new environment and provide feedback.

Students, faculty and staff can access both Virtual Workspace environments at http://vw.towson.edu. This login page offers FAQs, and will provide updates regarding the Virtual Workspace environments over the next few months.

Features of the new Virtual Workspace

  • No client or plug-in required to work (However, Virtual Workspace client software installed through your Windows Software Center provides a better experience)
  • Access from anywhere, on any device with Internet access
  • Available as a Mobile App, downloadable from your favorite app store
  • Ability to map network drives
  • More desktop personalization options available

The upgrade will provide faculty, staff and students with web-based access to many of the campus applications and network files – from anywhere – simply by using your favorite Internet browser. Additionally, students can access applications like SPSS, Mathematica and Minitab.
