Denial, History on Trial: My Day in Court with David Irving

Thursday, November 3, 7:00pm in the College of Liberal Arts, room 4310

Deborah Lipstadt, author and historian, will discuss the libel trial that vindicated her and that did for this century “what the Nuremberg tribunals or the Eichmann trial did for earlier generations” (London Daily Telegraph). Dr. Lipstadt is Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish and Holocaust Studies at Emory University in Atlanta. Her book, Denying the Holocaust: The Growing Assault on Truth and Memory, is the first full-length study of those who attempt to deny the Holocaust. Dr. Lipstadt served two terms on the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, to which she was appointed by President Bill Clinton. She has consulted for members of Congress on issues of Holocaust denial, and advised Secretary of State Madeleine Albright as a member of the United States Department Advisory Committee on Religious Freedom Abroad.

This event, sponsored by the Baltimore Hebrew Institute at Towson University and the College of Liberal Arts, is free and open to the public. A reception immediately follows. Space is limited so please register at http://www.towson.edu/cla/centers/baltimorehebrewinstitute/events.html.
