October is Campus Sustainability Month!

Celebrate Campus Sustainability Month by taking action this October by attending Sustainability events! You’ll learn about environmental issues and keeping our environment clean, and you’ll have a chance to win prizes and play games. Some events feature free lunch, too.

Oct. 7: Presidents’ Climate Commitment Committee

1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.

The committee will brainstorm how to best sustain TU’s environment and how to limit its carbon footprint. Topics include: alternative transportation, carbon neutrality and climate resilience education/research, renewable energy sources and more.

 

Oct. 9 – Oct. 12: Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Conference
Baltimore Convention Center

The AASHE conference offers sustainability information, ideas for combating environmental issues and networking opportunities.

 

Oct. 14: Recycling Rush
University Union Loch Raven Room
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Join Greek Life and the Office of Sustainability in seeing who can recycle the most at Recycling Rush! Bring recyclables to Freedom Square to help support the recycling teams and to reduce unnecessary waste.

 

Oct. 19:  Health Fair
University Union, Potomac Lounge
9:30 am – 1:30 pm

The Office of Sustainability table will offer information on how you can live a healthy, low carbon lifestyle.

 

Oct. 22 Homecoming

The Office of Sustainability tailgating area will have games and prizes. 

 

Oct. 23 Homecoming Weekend

Show some Tiger love on Sunday morning with a Post-Homecoming clean-up of the Athletic Precinct.

 

Oct. 27: Solar Talk
University Union, Patuxent
noon – 1 p.m.

Have you noticed the new solar panels on campus?  Want to learn more about this renewable energy source?  Looking for a FREE LUNCH?  Join us for a discussion on solar panels: learn how panels work, where solar panel marketing is headed and more.

 

Oct. 27: ENVS/Environmental Coalition Social

Calling all ENVS majors! This joint social with the Environmental Coalition will allow you to connect with fellow ENVS students and faculty, as well as give you an overview of campus resources and opportunities for involvement such as CEL, OoS, Campus Rec, Environmental Coalition clubs and others. Environmental club members are welcome as well.
