The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance have designated October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). This collaborative effort between government and industry was created to ensure that every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online.
This is the 13th year of NCSAM. The theme is “Our Shared Responsibility” and the campaign slogan is STOP. THINK. CONNECT. when using the internet:
- Stop: understand the risks and learn how to identify potential problems.
- Think: take time to watch for warning signs and consider your online actions.
- Connect: enjoy your Internet experience knowing you have taken the appropriate precautions.
During the month of October, the Office of Information Security in the Office of Technology Services (OTS) encourages the campus to increase cyber security awareness:
- Get a brief overview of how Cybersecurity Starts with You as inspired by the National Cyber Security Alliance’s STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Campaign
- Attend the on-campus Cyber Security event on 10/31
- Look for tips in T3 throughout the month of October on how to keep yourself and the university safe from cyberattacks.
