The term Threat Intelligence seems to be everywhere these days but continues to lack clear definition and understanding of its application. While traditional defense in depth strategies are often effective against malicious activity, it fails at contextualizing the activity and informing defensive efforts. Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) is knowledge about the adversary – their motivations, intentions and methods that is collected, analyzed and disseminated in ways that helps security and business staff at all levels protect the critical assets of the enterprise. This talk introduces key CTI concepts, provides real world examples, and discusses CTI in the context of traditional security operations roles and responsibilities.
The Cybersecurity seminars at Towson are jointly sponsored by the Department of Computer and Information Sciences and the National Science Foundation’s CyberCorps Scholarship for Service program.
