Changes to Student NetIDs and Email

Some minor changes are coming to student NetIDs that will affect how students access Webmail Powered by Google (http://webmail.towson.edu) and manage their passwords.

Passwords

On November 23, the way in which student NetID passwords expire will change:

  • Student passwords currently expire every 180 days. The time period will be extended so students will need to change their password only once per year.
  • Email notifications will be sent to students before their Towson NetID password expires. Students will receive an email 30 days before the password expires, then every day starting at 14 days before the password expires.
  • Students must change their NetID password when it has expired in order to log into any service (including but not limited to Webmail, Blackboard, campus computers, Towson Online Services/PeopleSoft, Office 365). Most services will display a “bad username/password” error if the password is not changed.

Webmail Powered by Google

On November 29, the student Webmail login page will be updated to a simpler, more generic login page making it streamlined for mobile devices.
