- Open enrollment is the time of year when eligible faculty and staff can enroll in or make changes to health benefits without having a qualifying event, such as marriage or birth, and enroll in flexible spending accounts. If you missed your opportunity to elect or change benefits, open enrollment is the time for you!
- The IRS requires all participants in health care and/or dependent care flexible spending accounts to re-enroll in these benefits every year. If you wish to continue contributing pre-tax dollars to a flexible spending account(s), be sure to make your new election(s) for 2016.
- TU faculty and staff enjoy benefit options from the USM and the state of Maryland. UNUM life insurance and long-term disability benefits are USM benefits and are excluded from the State of Maryland health benefits open enrollment.
- Remember! New wellness program requirements begin January 1, 2016. More details will follow in future T3s.
- Open enrollment packets will be distributed late September/early October. The packets will contain the 2016 benefits guide and instructions for using the Interactive Voice Response system if you wish to make changes to benefits during open enrollment.
