Campus Rec Expansion: Access Changes & Recreation Alternatives

As Campus Recreation prepares to expand its facilities in Burdick Hall, Campus Rec patrons and campus pedestrians should be aware of some changes, including the closure of the walkway connecting Tiger Plaza and the east side of the bridge over Osler Drive.  Pathways between the Turf Fields and Osler Drive that lead to/from the bridge and the Union Garage will remain open. See a construction map here.

Patrons must enter Burdick Hall through the doors on University Avenue. Recent changes within Burdick Hall include: the relocation of Fitness Center equipment to Gym 1, and the closure of the Climbing Wall. The Climbing Wall will re-open when construction is complete.

Patrons seeking alternatives can take advantage of local climbing and fitness facilities. Earth Treks Climbing Center in Timonium offers discounted day passes to students with valid college ID. Local fitness clubs are also offering competitive rates to those seeking expanded fitness options.

Upon completion in 2017, Campus Recreation will offer amenities including: two multi-purpose activity courts, an elevated sprint hill, five group exercise studios, an expanded outdoor adventure trip and education center, and a functional fitness course. Visit the Campus Recreation website to view renderings and sign-up to receive updates.
