The Service-Learning & Civic Engagement Conference (SLCE) is being held on March 28, 2015 at American University. SLCE is an annual event hosted by a network of universities and individuals dedicated to creating strong civic engagement, service-learning, and community partnerships in the Maryland and D.C. area. You can learn more about the conference at the website.
SLCE is not only a great professional development opportunity, but is also a time to reflect on how service-learning can be integrated into your academic and extracurricular activities along with some of the challenges students and communities face when engaging in service. The day will be filled with workshops, speakers, and presentations to facilitate your own reflections on your service-learning and hear from others.
You will also have the opportunity to connect with community partners and other organizations doing work in the DMV Area. This is an excellent chance to network with non-profits and other individuals who are invested in developing community partnerships and strengthening community ties for sustainable and long-term cooperation.
Finally, this event provides a space to further develop and refine your leadership development skills as a student and a leader. The event is a space to consider the change you want to create in your community and how your skills can enhance and further this mission.
To register for the conference, please contact Stephanie Easterday at seasterday@towson.edu by Friday, March 13, 2015. Funding for registration is available and multiple transportation options will be offered.
