You may have heard news reports that Anthem Blue Cross, part of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield network of Blues plans, was hacked last week. Anthem reports the information stolen includes names, birthdates, Social Security numbers, street addresses, email addresses, and employment and income data.
The state of Maryland Employee Benefits Division (EBD) informed us that plan participants residing or traveling out of state that used a participating provider in the national Blue Cross PPO/EPO network for which Anthem would have processed claims, could be at risk.
EBD and CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield are watching the situation closely and will provide updates when they receive additional information.
