Date/Time:  Friday, February 20, 3:00 to 4:00pm

Place:  College of Liberal Arts, Room 3310

The Department of Geography and Environmental Planning invites you to its next talk in the What Matters Speaker Series on “Household Responses to Livelihood Transformation in Peri-urban Areas – A Case Study in Thailand.”  In Thailand, small towns far outside of Bangkok have begun to transform into major urban areas.  This transformation brings with it improved infrastructure, living standards, educational access, and health care, but has upended traditional agrarian lifeways.  In this presentation, Dr. Paporn Thebpanya of the Department of Geography and Environmental Planning examines the impact of peri-urbanization on the lives of agrarian families.
