Update on University Policy on Marijuana

A new state law decriminalizing the possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana went into effect on October 1st. It is important to understand that this law does not legalize the possession of marijuana or drug paraphernalia—it is still illegal. The law decriminalizes possession of less than 10 grams and makes it a civil violation of the law.  As such, having or using marijuana or drug paraphernalia is still a violation of University policy.  It is the University’s expectation that all students will refrain from the use or possession of all illegal drugs, including marijuana.  Those who choose to violate University policy are subject to disciplinary action through the Code of Student Conduct.  For more information about the University’s policies, please visit www.towson.edu/studentconduct.
