Benefits Bulletin: Changes to Accrued Leave

 

The Board of Regents, approved amendments to the USM Sick and Annual Leave Policies. A summary of the changes can be found below.

Policy changes effective April 15, 2014, new leave accruals April 16, 2014

Annual Leave

Full-time Non-Exempt employees are eligible to earn:

  • 1st year = 11 days per year
  • 2nd year = 12 days per year
  • 3rd year = 13 days per year
  • 4th year = 14 days per year
  • 5th year- end of 10th year = 15 days per year
  • 11th year- end of 20th year = 20 days per year
  • 21st year and beyond = 25 days per year

Leave is pro-rated for Part-time employees. Accruals will appear on leave statements after the April 23, 2014 payroll has been processed.

Annual Leave may now be used as soon as it has been earned.

Sick Leave

Exempt and Non-Exempt employees are eligible to use accrued sick leave to care for an immediate family member, per the Sick Leave Policy. There is no longer a limit on the number of days which may be used, once accrued. This applies to maternity and paternity leave as well.
