Tutoring Opportunities for Elementary School – Spring 2014

The TUTORS Program has off-campus volunteer or paid tutor positions available for students who want to make a difference in a child’s life.

 

Details:

  • Duties:  Tutor elementary school reading and math, assisting teachers in the classrooms (grades K – 5th)
  • Location:  Govans Elementary, a Baltimore City school 2.5 miles south of campus on York Road (www.baltimorecityschools.org/domain/2305)
  • Hourly rate:  $10.00 per hour for tutoring, plus extra pay for travel time
  • Shifts:  Morning 8:00-11:45 a.m. and/or afternoon 11:45-3:30 p.m. – Monday through Friday (choose one or more or a combination)

 

Requirements:

  • Have a Federal Work-Study (FWS) financial aid award or be potentially eligible to receive one (Questions about FWS call 410-704-4236 or go to www.towson.edu/main/finaid/)
  • Enrolled in at least 6 units
  • A cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
  • Speak fluent English and have good grammar skills
  • Have reliable transportation or use the MTA bus route 8 (travels between TU and Govans Elementary)
