Dr. J. Lynn Taylor, M.D.
Clinical Director of the Child and Adolescent Program
Sheppard Pratt Neuropsychiatry Program
Psychotropic medications are commonly used to manage symptoms in individuals on the autism
spectrum. This talk will discuss the various classes of medications commonly used; mechanism of action and side effects. There is frequent misunderstanding about how medications can help and what they can and cannot do. Besides discussing the medications this talk will discuss the evidence we have for their use in individuals with autism, potential target symptoms, and a rational approach to their use. Finally we will leave time for discussion and questions.
Dr. Taylor joined the Neuropsychiatry Program at Sheppard Pratt in January of 2013. She serves as The Clinical Director for the Child and Adolescents Program within the Neuropsychiatry Program.
Dr. Taylor received her M.D. degree from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed her fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Brown University. Dr. Taylor is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American college of Psychiatrists. She has been a co-investigator on a number of research projects and has published on various topics within the field of child and adolescent psychiatry.
