The Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement is searching for an assistant for the 2013 fall semester to support the Cherry Hill Urban Garden in the areas of advocacy and maintenance. Cherry Hill is a neighborhood located in south Baltimore City with which TU has partnered since 2005. The assistant will aid in increasing involvement and consumption of the Cherry Hill Urban Garden and help residents lead healthier lives by working with the garden manager to promote the benefits of the garden. This position will provide greater support to the Civic Engagement team while receiving an opportunity to learn, engage and serve the Cherry Hill community. The position will be 10 hours a week for $8/hour, starting September 16.
Requirements:
- Enrolled at TU as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Travel between Towson & Cherry Hill
- Excellent written, oral, and organizational skills
- Pass criminal record check
- Knowledge of web, social media, and MS Office Applications
Responsibilities:
- Assist in marketing garden events and produce in order to reach more residents of Cherry Hill; includes blogging, creating flyers and community outreach
- Assist the Cherry Hill Urban Garden manager with garden maintenance
- Assist Leadership and Civic Engagement outreach team with volunteer recruitment, event and program planning, and additional duties as assigned.
