Join us at Freedom Square for Thoughtful Thursdays every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for thoughtful conversations and giveaways!
Our question of the week is:
In what situations do you conform to the pressure around you?
Whenever we change our behavior, views and attitudes in response to the presence of others, we are experiencing conformity. To conform is to wear what everyone else is wearing, to listen to the music everyone else is listening to, to drive the car everyone else is driving. In an unfamiliar situation, we are likely to shape our behavior to match that of others. In addition to conforming to the group norms due to lack of knowledge, we also conform when we want to be liked by the group. These pressures impact us every day, for good or for worse. In what situations do you conform to the pressure around you?
