Dear Student:
This letter is to inform you of steps that will be implemented to increase residence hall security.
As you know, all residents must present the TU OneCard upon entering the residence halls and guest(s) must be with a resident of the building at all times.
Effective Friday October 24, there are two notable changes:
1) Uniformed Security Guards will be stationed at the front entrance to each residence hall from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. This will increase the number of hours that assures only residents of the building and their escorted guests may enter.
2) All guests will be required to produce a picture ID and register upon entering the building.
As before, all guests must be with a resident of the building at all times. The guest must register and show a picture ID. The resident hosting the guest will need to also complete the registration card.
The resident is responsible for this guest. The guest will be given a guest registration slip that he/she needs to carry at all times.
The guest registration slip will be good for 24-hours. The guest(s) will not have to register again if they leave and return during this time as long as they are with the same resident, show an ID and have the guest registration slip.
Guests who are under 15 without picture ID may enter after registering and being with a building resident.
University Housing policies section 3b (Building Access) cover the issues addressed above.
Also, Uniformed Security Guards will be making patrols outside of the residence halls checking side and back doors.
These changes are being made to increase the security of everyone living on-campus. As with all safety measures, the community needs to adhere to these guidelines. Always report to University Police or your Residence Life staff any suspicious persons or those entering through doors not designated for entry. Should you have any questions, please contact your Residence Life staff member.
