National Survey of Student Engagement: Give Towson University your feedback!

In about a week, you may receive an email asking you to participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Every few years, Towson University participates in the NSSE, which is a survey about the experiences of college students. The survey is administered each year to students at almost 600 colleges and universities across the United States. Results from this survey help Towson learn about the perceptions and experiences of TU students in comparison to each other and to the experiences of students on other campuses. Through NSSE, we are able to find out more about the experience of first year TU students and about the senior year experience, and about the ways these experiences differ. We find out what students are satisfied with and what we need to improve. By responding to the NSSE, you have the opportunity to give us important feedback about Towson University.

For more information on the National Survey of Student Engagement, please go to the NSSE website at {http://nsse.iub.edu/html/students_parents.cfm}. If you have additional questions about the NSSE after viewing the NSSE site, please contact Dr. Kathryn Doherty in the Office of Assessment at 410-704-2557 or by email at kdoherty@towson.edu. The NSSE survey will be sent to a random sample of Towson students in February and the results will be back in late spring. Please look for the email with the NSSE link and respond to the survey at your earliest convenience. The feedback you give us this semester will be turned around into changes and improvements for the summer, the fall, and beyond. All students completing the NSSE survey will be entered into a drawing for one of ten $50 gift certificates to the University Store.

Results from the 2005 National Survey of Student Engagement are available on the Office of Assessment web site at {http://pages.towson.edu/assessment/nsse06.htm}.
