Do Your Part to Avoid Computer Problems at the Beginning of the Semester

Before the start of the fall semester the Office of Technology Services highly recommends that all campus computers connected to the TowsonU domain be turned on to ensure they receive all security updates. This is especially critical in academic departments where many computers are turned off during the summer. Turning on computers before all faculty and staff return will allow the computers to automatically download and install critical security updates, which might necessitate several restarts. Computers that are not turned on until faculty or staff return will interrupt their work until all updates install.

As a reminder, OTS highly recommends that you log off or restart your computer at the end of the day. Please do not shut down your computer. (To restart or log off, go to the Start menu, click Shut Down, and choose to Restart or Log Off.)

Further information about the security update process is available at {http://wwwnew.towson.edu/AdminFinance/OTS/CoreTechSecurity/InfoSecSecurityUpdates.asp}.

If you have any questions please call x4-5151 or e-mail {helpcenter@towson.edu}. You can also contact the Security Updates team directly at {securityupdates@towson.edu}.
