Domestic Long Distance Rates Cut to 5.4 Cents a Minute

Networking and Communications Services is pleased to announce new rate cuts for both domestic and international long distance services.

These significant reductions across the university are a result of a new long distance provider, PAETEC Communications. PAETEC offers the highest quality communications solutions and customer service.

Effective Tuesday, June 1, the average long distance rate for departmental calls will be almost 33 percent lower than last year.

The new long distance rate for domestic calls (anywhere within the United States) will be 5.4 cents per minute anytime in comparison to 8 cents per minute previously. For international rates organized alphabetically by country, go to {http://wwwnew.towson.edu/adminfinance/ots/networkcom/InternationalLongDistanceRates.asp}.

The new rates will be in effect for all calls placed after midnight on Tuesday, June 1 and will be reflected on departmental invoices for July.

PAETEC’s service will not affect current telecommunications procedures in any way; dialing instructions and voice mail maintenance will remain the same.

The rate cuts are the result of combined efforts from the Office of Technology Services (OTS) and the Procurement Department.
