Is your computer monitor at the right height? Are your wrists in the right position when you type on your keyboard? The Department of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and the Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science recognize the benefit of distributing information about ergonomics to help prevent Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in the workplace. We offer a variety of information and services to ergonomically improve your workstation on campus. Please go to the Ergonomics Program (Computer Workstation) on EHS’ website at {http://wwwnew.towson.edu/adminfinance/facilities/ehs/documents/Ergonomics-ComputerWorkstation_003.pdf} for links and information about proper workstation configuration, body position, exercises, and more.
If you need additional information or assistance, the two departments also offer a Workstation Ergonomic Consultation. An Occupational Therapist and EHS representative will visit your office and evaluate your workstation configuration. We will provide recommendations and assist in making your work area ergo-friendly. To sign-up for a consultation, contact EHS at {safety@towson.edu} or the Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science at {lmurphy@towson.edu}.
