I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dyan Brasington to the position of Acting Associate Vice President for the Division of Economic and Community Outreach (DECO). Dyan has served as the Director of Economic and Workforce Development for Towson University, with responsibility for management of RESI research and consulting, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and TowsonGlobal, the University?s international incubator and globalization center. Under Dyan?s guidance, Towson University has been granted Federal EDA designation as an ?Economic Development Administration University Center.?
Dyan has 30 years combined experience in technology business development, economic development, organization management and community outreach. Among her other accomplishments, she has developed and led government and private sector economic development agencies at the state, regional and local levels.
Dyan received a BS degree and a Masters from Florida State University, and earned post-graduate status as a Certified Economic and Community Developer. In addition to her professional certifications, Dyan has received community recognition as one of ?Washington DC?s 100 Most Influential Women?, a three-time honoree as one of ?Maryland?s Top 100 Women? and recipient of the ?Maryland Circle of Excellence? award. In addition to her responsibilities at Towson, Dyan continues to lend her extensive expertise to numerous boards and committees and serves as a regular instructor for the Maryland Basic Economic Development Course. She also continues to be involved in a variety of community outreach efforts, including recent service on the boards of Leadership Maryland, the Baltimore Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the Lourie Center for Children, and the Shady Grove Hospital Foundation.
