The popular Web site YouTube hosts more than entertainment videos. Faculty and students at many universities are creating instructional videos and audio recordings to share online as podcasts or YouTube selections. Using a simple web cam and microphone, users are showcasing topics that range from nursing to music.
Several colleges and universities are recognizing the benefits of allowing students to take learning outside of the classroom and have launched their own YouTube channels. Instructors are increasingly using these new avenues of delivery to enhance the learning experience of their students.
Join us as Dr. Terry Ewell from the Dept. of Music discusses his use of video and audio to delivery his course materials over the Internet for his one-on-one private studio lessons, supplemental materials for face-to-face classrooms and prerecorded lectures for online courses.
Dr. Terry Ewell is Chairperson of the Department of Music and bassoon professor at Towson University. In his 25 years as a professional musician he has received recognition as an administrator, performer, scholar, and teacher. Recently he has started a series of videos placed on YouTube, {www.2reed.net}, and his personal website for bassoon and music theory instruction.
