Parking Notice – Fall 2008 Permit Sales

Faculty/staff permit sales began July 14, 2008. Individuals who paid for a parking permit through payroll deduction last year will have their permits automatically renewed. Any individual who purchased his or her permit through payroll deduction last year should contact the Auxiliary Services Business Office at x4-2284 if they do not receive their permit by July 25.

Faculty and staff members who did not use payroll deduction last year may purchase permits online, through the mail or in person at the Auxiliary Services Business Office. Please see the Parking and Transportation Web site for additional information.

2008 permits expire August 31, 2008. 2009 permits may not be utilized until August 13, 2008.

Below are the main changes for fall 08:

? New AVI gate control equipment is being installed this summer and will be activated August 13, 2008. An AVI device will be included with each faculty/staff permit. Please mount the tag on the windshield below the tint line behind your rear view mirror and remove it when the vehicle is in motion, or place it in the lower seven inches of the left side of the windshield. The tag will automatically open any gate as you drive up ? no need to insert a gate card.
? AVI tags can be used continuously by individuals who maintain an active faculty/staff parking permit.
? AVI tags may be transferred between vehicles belonging to the permit holder.
? All gate cards will be deactivated effective September 12, 2008.
? Lot 5 outside of Linthicum has been permanently closed with the exception of a small section for handicapped parking. The handicapped parking may be accessed from the road next to Dowell Health Center.
? The faculty/staff area on the lower level of the Towsontown garage has been expanded to accommodate individuals displaced from the Linthicum lot. In the event that no spaces are available in the Towsontown faculty/staff area, permit holders should utilize the next closest faculty/staff lot.
? The university is expanding its off-campus shuttle service to include service to individuals who live in or near the following apartment complexes:
o Kenilworth at Charles
o The Colony
o Donnybrook
o Fairways
? Shuttle service will continue to be available to Penn Station
? A TU ID will be required to ride any off campus shuttle
