As reported in previous SPSS announcements, Towson University licenses for SPSS versions 15 and 16 will expire July 31, 2009. SPSS versions 15 and 16 will no longer run after the license expires. SPSS version 17 is currently licensed and will run after version 15 and 16 expire at the end of July. All university SPSS users should plan on upgrading SPSS to version 17 on office computers, laptops, computer labs, and smart classrooms prior to July 31.
SPSS name changed to PASW
The latest SPSS update (SPSS 17.02) renames the SPSS application to PASW (Predictive Analytics Software) and fixes some minor bugs in SPSS version 17.01. For details on the name change, see the SPSS Product Naming Guide at: {http://www.spss.com/software/product-name-guide/}.
How can I upgrade to SPSS v. 17?
As of July 21, the SPSS 17.02 version is available for installation on university computers.

Updating SPSS v. 17 to SPSS 17.02
SPSS recommends updating computers running SPSS version 17.01 to version 17.02. The update will rename SPSS to PASW and install some minor fixes.
SPSS on Virtual Workspace
SPSS v. 17.01 is currently installed on Virtual Workspace at {http://vw.towson.edu}. SPSS will be updated to SPSS 17.02 (includes PASW name change) on Virtual Workspace after summer classes end and before fall classes start.
Laptop Computers
To upgrade and license SPSS on laptop computers, you will to need bring the laptop to campus and plug it into the wired campus network.
