New payroll deductions for FY 2010 Maryland State group insurance benefits for regular 26-pay employees are scheduled to begin in the July 22, 2009 paycheck. Employees must carefully review that paystub to confirm that their benefits and deductions are accurate based on any activity during the recent Open Enrollment period. Current 21-pay faculty members will see their first new deductions from the September 2, 2009 paycheck.
Special note for members of United Concordia?s Dental HMO plan:
Due to a change initiated by the state of Maryland Department of Budget and Management-Employee Benefits Division (EBD) to establish separate deduction codes for United Concordia?s DPPO and DHMO dental plans, members of the DHMO will see two descriptions on their paystubs beginning with the paycheck for pay period ending 6/30/09. The UCC DENTL DPPO listing actually refers to the year-to-date total for their DHMO plan through 6/30/09. Beginning with the 7/22/09 paycheck, the current and year-to-date amounts for their DHMO coverage for the new plan year will be shown under UCC DENTL DHMO.
Direct-pay employees (contingent staff, lecturers and part-time faculty members) whose new contract dates were sent to OHR before the end of June should have received their new payment coupons reflecting their FY 2010 coverages. Any direct-pay employees who have not yet received their new coupons should call EBD at 410-767-4775, option 2 to check on the status of their coupons.
