Towson Scores New High in MBE Procurement

As many of you know, the State of Maryland established a goal that all agencies, including universities, make 25% of total purchases from certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) firms.

For the fiscal year ending 6/30/06, Towson University achieved 27.3% MBE participation in construction contracts, and 22.1% percent in other procurements (including p-card transactions), for an overall spend of 22.5% with minority-owned firms. What?s more, it makes Towson University #1 in MBE participation within the University System of Maryland for FY2006!

Congratulations and thanks to each of you who helped us move closer to the state?s 25% MBE goal. This new record high would not have been possible without your continued support, and we?re grateful for your help. Please keep working with us to grow the MBE program.

The Procurement Department manages campus programs for minority and small businesses, and is committed to encouraging their participation in our contract opportunities. Suggestions and questions regarding the program should be directed to the University?s MBE Liaison, Barbara Hufnagel, at 4-3486.
