FACULTY SURVEY – Faculty: Tell us What you Think About the Summer Trimester and Enter to win a Free Meal at TU!

Dear TU Faculty member,
Our Summer Trimester 2008 pilot?s success reflects a major commitment of the TU faculty. We slightly exceeded the target goals for enrollments this summer and added a number of key services in support of this increased enrollment. At this point, in addition to analysis of data regarding the student enrollment, we need feedback from those of you who were involved in teaching a course as part of the Summer Trimester 2008 pilot?and from those of you who did not teach this summer. Your feedback will be used to help us understand factors associated with the Summer Trimester 2008 pilot from the viewpoint of faculty and to plan for Summer Trimester 2009. Please note that all responses should relate to the Summer Trimester issues relative to supporting/expanding student enrollments in the summer.

No names are collected with this survey; all responses are confidential. Your completion of the survey is completely voluntary, and answering every question is not required. There is no penalty should you choose not to participate and your employment status will not be affected by your decision to participate or not participate. However, the Task Force would greatly appreciate your feedback so that we have key information needed to plan a successful pilot in each of the upcoming two summers. We are gathering information from chairpersons, faculty and students as well.

We have received TU approval from the Institutional Review Board for the purpose of allowing us to share summary data from all the surveys used to assess the Summer Trimester 2008 pilot and plan for the upcoming pilots. We will use some of the data collected for internal reports, including an email to faculty by the end of September, and reports to the USM. In addition, we may choose to share information regarding planning for the trimester model in other formats such as professional conferences and publications. If we choose to use data from the Faculty survey, any identifying information will be removed and only summary information that is anonymous will be used.

If you have any questions or concerns about the survey or use of the data, please contact me, Charlotte Exner {cexner@towson.edu} or Dr. Patricia Alt, chairperson of the IRB at 410-704-2236.

We would appreciate your completion of the survey at the link below by October 6, 2008. Upon completion of the survey, you will have the opportunity to enter in a drawing for a $10 coupon for any dining facility on campus?25 will be awarded in all!
