The Study Abroad Office would like to welcome all faculty and staff to submit ideas for activities to celebrate International Education Week on our campus. This year the worldwide celebration will be held from November 17-21, 2008. A joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education begun in 2000, International Education Week is a way to promote and celebrate multiculturalism and international education. Throughout the week, campuses, embassies and communities are encouraged to hold activities celebrating international education and diversity. More information can be found at {http://iew.state.gov/}.
TU Study Abroad sponsors several International Education Week activities, including foreign film screenings, a cultural quiz, chalking flags outside of Cook Library, and international bingo. Please forward any events you or your department may wish to organize to Erin Stephens at {estephens@towson.edu} by October 15, and indicate if you would like assistance in planning an event. The Study Abroad Office will coordinate a master schedule of International Education Week activities and distribute around campus.
Thank you and we hope you will help us celebrate International Education Week 2008 by hosting events and encouraging your students to get involved.
