Recently, about 4000 of our undergraduate students were invited to participate in the 2007 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) that asks them about their college experience, how much time they spend studying, and the types of interactions they have with faculty. The results from the study will be used in a variety of ways, including assessment, institutional improvement, and prompting discussion on teaching and learning initiatives.
To gain information about the faculty perspective on these issues, Towson faculty will have the opportunity in April to complete the 2007 Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE). FSSE is designed to measure faculty expectations for student engagement in educational practices that are known to be empirically linked with high levels of learning and development. An initial email with a link to the FSSE was sent to faculty during the first week in April. A reminder email was sent on April 11. Please look for this email in your mailbox and take advantage of this opportunity to give Towson your feedback. All responses are anonymous and participation is voluntary. Contact Kathy Doherty (4-2557) with any questions you have about this survey.
