Conversations on the Teaching of Writing

The CLA Writing Center invites you to join us in a series of informal conversations about the teaching of writing. These conversations are open to all faculty who would like to share effective teaching strategies, both in the teaching of writing and the use of writing as a pedagogical tool in the disciplines.

At these informal meetings we will have the opportunity to share what works especially well in our classes as well as raise questions regarding effective writing pedagogy. For example, are there alternatives to the formal research paper? How have you integrated the use of Blackboard and/or other technology into your writing class? What effective strategies for developing effective writing assignments, responding to written work, and evaluating student writing do you have to share? What are others doing that you would like to hear more about?

We hope you will join us for light refreshments and stimulating discussion in the CLA Writing Center at 5 PM on the last Thursday of each month:

Thursday, February 23
Thursday, March 29
Thursday, April 26

Please contact Barbara Bass {bbass@towson.edu} to RSVP, make suggestions for topics to be discussed or raise any questions you may have:
