Please join members of the Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum and invited guests at the January 20, 2011 meeting!
Cloud computing is still in its early stages and is experiencing exploding growth in scope and scale. There are many aspects maturing as new services and vendors enter the arena. What are the priorities and successful strategies CIO?s can employ in this ever expanding megatrend overpowering IT? CIO?s face a very volatile, competitive marketplace driven to service their users while striving to select the correct strategy, tools and vendors that will go the distance for their organizations realizing improved service, competitive edge, cost reductions and flexibility to meet business needs.
Mike Slavin, Partner and Managing Director, TPI, will begin the meeting with an overview of the marketplace and discussion on the top issues for CIOs to tackle in developing and implementing strategies for adoption of cloud computing. He will examine the dimensions and taxonomy of cloud offerings and services, including discussion on some of the priorities of CIO?s related to cloud computing. He will then present an in-depth overview of recent market adoption. He will discuss key issues such as how is an organization?s readiness to move into cloud computing determined; what is the state of current and emerging cloud computing service providers, and what changes will need to be made in IT service governance, operations, and organization.
The next part of the program will be presentations by two CIOs who are currently in adoption of cloud computing, sharing their incites and lessons learned. Dan Stuart, Vice President and Global CIO, Algeco Scotsman, Inc. will discuss Cloud Platforms and SaaS at William Scotsman and Steve Bergman CIO, Easter Seals Inc., will look at Cloud Platforms and SaaS at Easter Seals. Each will describe their cloud platforms, overall strategies, next steps, infrastructure, critical drivers to go into the cloud, and assess what they have experienced.The three speakers will then form a panel chaired by Steve Bergman, to continue dialogue on cloud computing with meeting participants .
